Anniversary Death of the Righteous (Tzaddikim)

(* Note: There are different opinions about the death day of some of the righteous people who are written here. Please consult Rabbi if in doubt.)

* Yahrzeit (Yahrtzeit) is a Yiddish word meaning anniversary of a death. Yom Hilula means the day a righteous man died. On this day, it is customary to light a special long-burning candle in memory of the deceased.

These candles are also called "yizkor" candles. It is customary to study Torah for the memory of the soul of the deceased and/or to study/read from the books the deceased he left behind (if any).
